2/12/2020 12:00:00 AM On February 11, 2020, The Conversation published an article called "The silent threat of the coronavirus: America’s dependence on Chinese pharmaceuticals", by Scowcroft Institute’s Pandemic and Biosecurity Policy Program based at the Bush School of Government at Texas A&M University. The article discusses the U.S. national security threat associated with our reliance on Chinese pharmaceuticals and medical equipment. This threat is being tested and further exaserbated by the recent outbreak of the coronovirus. The authors calls on U.S. policymakers to recognize the grave danger of our dependence on China and develop a response plan for a shortage in medical supplies, which they believe is inevitable.
